The C4DI Community is expanding, with a large percentage of our members looking to take on new people, hiring new team members or offering work placements to those who want to develop their skills and experience.
Over the last few months, digital technology has become a lifeblood for many types of businesses and industries, helping them to provide their services and products in a different way and, ultimately, to stay connected with their customers.
Many of our members have been working tirelessly to support schools, the healthcare sector and companies big and small through these unprecedented times.
Naturally, this has led to many teams within C4DI and the wider tech industry to open up new roles and vacancies.
“There has been an increase in infrastructure and IT support roles, as remote working becomes a vital part of the new normal,” says Glen Halliwell, Associate Director of GBIT Recruitment, which is based at C4DI.
“We’ve also seen more investment in both renewable and education technology, which has resulted in increased team sizes.”
Today’s article rounds up some of the new faces in our community, as well as some of the upcoming opportunities and vacancies available.

Education
Another sector that has relied a lot on technology during the UK lockdown is, of course, education.
C4DI-based Cloud Design Box, who specialises in providing Microsoft 365 solutions to schools, academies and multi-academy trusts, has taken on two new team members to help with support as schools transition to online learning.
SalamanderSoft, who provides key technology and time-saving services to a similar client base, has also experienced an increase in demand.
“We’ve hired three Junior Developers and three Support Consultants since the start of lockdown, this took our team from 18 to 24 people in total,” Jon Atkinson, Head of Operations at SalamanderSoft explains.
Construction
Building Information Modelling company Bimsense is ramping up the development of their second digital product, Operance Digital O&M. This will complement their existing Operance Smart Building Manual and aims to streamline the collection of the vast amount of information needed when constructing a new building.
“To help with this, we’re currently looking for a new developer who can help us build a more established and agile development team, bring new ideas and perspectives and use the latest technologies to really disrupt the construction industry that is crying out for digital transformation,” Tim Mutlow, Chief Technical Officer at Bimsense, tells us.

More digital roles
Smart tech specialist Sauce, who provides Bespoke Business Solutions, App and IoT Development, has recently filled a Quality Assurance vacancy, and kept on a student after they completed their internship as a software developer with the company.
“In the first two weeks of lockdown, we took on two junior developers and, as always, we’re working with freelancers and small businesses within the C4DI community to deliver projects to our clients,” enthuses Rachael Taylor, Business Strategist at Sauce.
Similarly, Finesse Digital, who are based in the C4DI coworking space, is looking for a new developer and recently expanded their Digital Marketing team, welcoming Marie Canova.

“Skilled developers are always in high demand, and this hasn’t changed,” GBIT’s Glen adds.
“But, we have noticed an increase in readily-available, high-quality candidates to fill these roles.”
GBIT has recently launched an app for those looking for none tech roles within the Humber Region. This project, in conjunction with Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, aims to help the region thrive and survive post-Covid.
Meanwhile, you can see all of their vacancies on the GBIT website.
