GBIT's 4-Day Week Boosts Productivity By 50%

This is a press release from GBIT

Last year GB Recruitment committed to the 4-day week experiment. One month in they are reporting a record-breaking month and an increase in productivity of more than 50%.

Inspired by the results of Microsoft’s Work-Life Choice Challenge in Japan, GB Recruitment introduced the 4-day week as of the 6th January 2020. The extra days leave is rostered between a Monday, Thursday and Friday in order to allow the firm to deliver the same level of customer service.

‘We are amazed by the results the experiment has delivered so far. The plan is to continue to monitor the impact, but we are more committed than ever to make this work’ - Antonio Tombanane – Managing Director GB Recruitment

Productivity at the firm is monitored based on a strict criterion. The criterion focuses on business development, interviews and placement figures. Individuals are set targets however making the 4-day work for GB Recruitment is considered to be a real team effort.

‘I couldn’t be prouder of what my team has managed to achieve during this trial. Being in a position where we have managed to take on an extra recruiter this month has been the real icing on the cake’ - Glen Halliwell – Associate Director GB Recruitment

GB Recruitment considers the 4-day week to be more than just a way of increasing productivity. They believe that by introducing this style of working they will be able to have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of their employees. Benefits differ based on the individual however it could be something as simple as allowing a parent to do the school run once a week.

4-day weeks are the latest addition to the firms hugely successful staff engagement policy. Other benefits of working for the recruitment firm include flexible working hours, quarterly lunch clubs, your birthday off and ‘Beer Fridays’.
