I’m Megan, and I’m joining the C4DI team to create content showcasing the new Northallerton site. During my English degree at Bristol University, I enjoyed using words to build strong messages. Since graduating in 2020, I’ve developed my skills through roles in reviewing and journalism. I’m now based in my home town near Northallerton, so I’m excited to spread the word about C4DI and the exciting opportunities it offers the local community.
One of my first pieces of work was to tell you a little bit about one of our new team members, Linsey!
Last week, C4DI welcomed Linsey Brown to the team as she started her role as Projects Manager.
It’s not often that your first day of work takes you behind bars. But Linsey got a perfect initiation into C4DI’s unconventional, edgy energy when she joined us at our new Northallerton incubator, located in the town’s Victorian prison.
“It’s awe-inspiring, beautiful, and the perfect balance of prison-chic with the rustic features,” she tells us. Luckily, the welcome was much warmer than it would have been in the building’s former life – Linsey says the team have already made her feel at home.
Although she officially started as Projects Manager last week, Linsey has had connections to C4DI since 2007 when she joined Sonoco-Trident as a Senior Customer Service Representative, working with then-MD Dave Keel – now our chair.
Reflecting on her time at Trident, Linsey says: “I spent 12 years working on various accounts, from local to global, giving me a lot of experience in project management on a small and large scale including global process improvements for internal employees.”
Later, she joined Miller Graphics as Digital Solutions Facilitator, pursuing her love for tech and getting involved in marketing, branding, and communications.
“At this point, I was managing digital projects covering 3D, animations and x-reality, so working with a lot of different clients, and even more fast-paced,” Linsey tells us, “and then we applied to be at the Humber Tech Awards, and won the award for ‘Use of Tech in a Traditional business’ award, again linking with the tech community.”
Having also visited the C4DI in Hull several times, Linsey was always inspired by its hive of innovative activity.
“If you’re a bit of a geeky, techy person it’s just like being in Santa’s grotto – so I love it! There’s a real buzz about the place and I love the vibe,” she says.
In a full circle moment, the position of Projects Manager at C4DI opened up and we were keen to get Linsey on board – “from there, the rest is history!” she adds.
Bringing her expertise and passion for both project management and tech, Linsey tells us she’s looking forward to the exciting journey ahead: “I’ll be making sure that whatever projects we’re working on, we’re using the best of the resources that we can to deliver them.”
Linsey will soon be a familiar face at C4DI. You’ll mainly find her around our Hull site, working closely with the community and playing a key role in helping tech companies to grow and traditional businesses to innovate.
