Interview by Courtney Farrow: C4DI Community Correspondent

On Tuesday 22 August, we welcome one of our newest members to the building. Trident is the world’s fasted growing brand management business, creating digital packaging assets for some of the best-known labels, such as Unilever, L’Oréal and Procter and Gamble.

We spoke to Global Technical Director, Matt Nicholson, and European Operations Director, Jane Barrett, to get a sneak peek at what they'll be chatting about at Elevensies.

Great to chat with you both, can you tell us a little more about Trident?

Matt Nicholson: Of course! We mainly prepare digital assets for a large number of clients. This means that we take the artwork used on products to create a digital version that can then be used pretty much everywhere, such as TV commercials and websites. We also offer 3D movies and images for eCommerce sites.

Jane Barrett: If you go to the supermarket, one-third of your trolly will most likely be made up of brands that we have dealt with. We ensure that the brand and artwork is recognisable across the globe, whether that’s a bottle of Head & Shoulders or a can of Coca Cola.

So, what brings you to C4DI?

Matt: Well, Trident was originally set up in Hull. David Keel, C4DI Chairman, was one of our founders, in fact. He was keen to establish a Hull business for Hull people to provide more employment opportunities for the area.

Another reason is that we've spent a lot of time in the building already, collaborating and working with some of the fantastic start-ups and individuals here. In short, we have strong ties with C4DI and we’re very excited to finally be fully-fledged members.

Jane: On top of this, it’s also a great chance to network. We want to help other companies and provide work experience opportunities too.

Do you have any work experience or opportunities for collaboration in mind?

Matt: Definitely. We’re actively involved with the University of Hull and the colleges in the city. We see C4DI as a source for talent. We hope to outsource some of our work and really want businesses to help us out too. It’s a two-way street.

Are you looking forward to Elevensies on Tuesday?

Matt: Yes, absolutely. We’ve already spent quite a lot of time in the building and know quite a few faces, but, there are some businesses we don’t know. We’re hoping that we can get to know you all and discuss future opportunities.

Elevensies take place at C4DI, 11am on Tuesday 22 August. Come down for a cuppa and meet Matt and Jane and the rest of the Trident team
