Global pharmaceutical giant and C4DI company member Reckitt Benckiser have been in the business of health and hygiene for nearly 200 years now, becoming an industry leader with an impressive portfolio of brands that consumers know and trust. This year, RB was awarded Best Digital Innovation at the Digital Awards. A key element of their success has been their ability to develop strong partnerships with local tech companies combined with their own class-leading expertise that catalysed the generation of innovative ideas and products in both fields.
Specifically, RB’s entry for the awards was for their partnership with leading Sex-Tech company Durex to develop a connected toy for couples. This led to the creation of the Durex We-Vibe, a sex toy that can be worn during sex to stimulate both partners and is informed by a thorough understanding of sexual anatomy and consumer insight. The product is controlled by an app that can personalize the vibration patterns and intensity according to the couple’s needs, and can even be controlled remotely.
As well as this product launch, RB intend to reinforce their reputation as a premier employer in the North by spending £105M on their site in Hull, with the hopes that they can strengthen their relationship in the local digital ecosystem and attract digital talent. By expanding partnerships towards digital and tech companies rather than the household, health and hygiene names such as Dettol and Nurofen, RB plans to show they are in the business of connected health and that they can develop and adapt to the modern digital world.
