Rob Miles has been a Computer Science lecturer at the University of Hull for over 30 years.
With many strings to his bow, Rob is passionate about sharing his knowledge of code, hardware and computer programming.
He has written several books, including The C# Yellow Book, which is now used by the University of Hull’s Department of Computer Science as the basis of their First Year programming course. Meanwhile, Rob’s latest book, Begin to Code with C# shows readers how to make useful applications and fun games.
Working closely with the Ron Dearing University Technical College, he firmly believes everyone should learn how to write code as it gives your ideas life in a way that nothing else can.
At the moment, Rob is developing a learning device that will allow children to pick up code and build their own robots. He also runs courses on how to build a robot in a day.
A Microsoft Most Valuable Professional, Rob is well respected in his field, delivering several sessions for TechED’s Future Decoded.
In the future, he would like to write another book and productise the robot he has built. At the moment, it is open source and you can download the kit to print out on a 3D printer. However, he would love to make it into physical kits and perhaps see 100 of them together in one area.
A key member of the C4DI community, Rob is one of the organisers for the popular Hardware Group.
