Cloud2 : IT Systems Administrator

Overview

The Junior IT Administrator role is a technical position within the Cloud2 IT Team for supporting the daily operations and support processes for both internal staff and client projects. As many of the tasks are project based, the role is partially client-facing and requires a good level of confidence communicating with clients and partners.

Required Knowledge, skills and experience.

Basic Skills

·       A basic understanding of technical systems (hardware, software) in general but specifically around Microsoft technologies like Windows Server, Active Directory Services, Internet Information Server, SharePoint, SQL Server etc.

·       High level of accuracy and attention to detail with a methodical approach to working

·       High degree of problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a service oriented approach

·       Ability to manage and prioritise multiple assignments or tasks as an individual

·       Strong communication, presentation and documentation skills

·       Understanding of Change Management processes and Helpdesk tracking systems

·       An understanding of data protection and information governance issues and obligations

General Systems and Concepts

·       Good knowledge and experience of working with operating systems, networking and other general business systems

·       Experience in 1st Line support of windows client systems and office equipment

·       A good working knowledge or familiarity of PowerShell and other system administration tools

·       Maintain an understanding of existing and emerging internet and web technologies

·       Relevant or related industry / academic qualifications in systems support and administration, such as MCSA

·       3 years of experience and working knowledge as an IT administrator with Microsoft platforms and Windows Servers, versions 2008 or above

SharePoint Platform

·       1 year experience in SharePoint projects as a qualified SharePoint administrator or engineer

·       Working towards qualifications for SharePoint administration such as Microsoft MCSE

·       Experience and detailed understanding of the capabilities and features associated with SharePoint administration.

·       Proficient on SharePoint Server (2010 or above) with specific knowledge of, but not limited to, the following:

o   Governance features

o   Information Architecture features

o   Availability, Scalability and Performance

o   Collaboration and Integration features

o   Enterprise Content Management

o   Portal Management

o   Enterprise Search administration

o   General SharePoint administration

o   PowerShell (SharePoint Management Shell)

Cloud Services (Office 365)

·       Working knowledge of Cloud-based service concepts and specifically:

o   Overview of Office 365 and its component services

o   Azure Active Directory Services

o   TCP/IP network routing

o   Domain Name Services (DNS)

o   X.509 Certificates

o   Hybrid Cloud / on-premise

o   Business Intelligence features in the Cloud

·       Experience in Office 365 Services specifically:

o   Administering Office 365 with Office 365 Admin Centre

o   SharePoint Online

o   OneDrive for Business

Database Systems

·       Good understanding of database systems in general

·       Experience of working with SQL Server 2008 and above as related to SharePoint configuration and tuning

 

Main Job Purposes and Duties

·       Tomaintain and manage systems based on technologies that our organisation currently deals with, including but not limited to:

o   Microsoft SharePoint Server

o   O365

o   Windows Server  

o   SQL Server

·       To work on projects single handed or as part of a team on large projects.

·       To Interact with Customers of the organisation as needed and act as a representative of the organisation within appropriate standards and behaviour­

·       Manage the 1st line support process for internal staff, both in office and home workers

·       To manage the support process for projects, or the customers of the organisation through established support agreements

·       To maintain appropriate type and amount of documentation of any assignment to support knowledge transfer, business continuity and supportability within the scope of the organisation and its customers’ activities

·       To provide training or knowledge transfer to either team members or customer representatives as required within the scope of an assigned project

·       To ensure the interests of the organisation and subsequently its customers are upheld at all times during tenure

·       To maintain appropriate confidentiality and protection as required by law and organisational policies / management directives

·       Assist with the day to day activities of the IT team, to include:

o   installing new software and hardware

o   setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords

o   maintaining adequate security, especially where systems and networks link to the world wide web

o   finding and fixing faults i.e. systems or network

o   Conducting and testing system preventative maintenance schedules

o   giving technical support to end-users, internal and external

o   providing training on new systems

o   carrying out day-to-day administration and monitoring usage of systems / network

o   planning and implementing future developments

o   installing and implementing SharePoint Farms and related components / services that support the implementation

 

Typical Objectives

·       Demonstrate increased competency and understanding on the Microsoft SharePoint platform and related technologies via industry certifications

·       Manage, implement and maintain SharePoint Farms and systems/services within them – on premise or online

·       Troubleshoot problems that arise on implementations of Cloud2 Solutions and products both on premise and online, internally and externally for clients

·       Maintain effective documentation to support activities and operations for the above
